The system’s key function is to enable the sharing of often high-cost peripheral devices such as card encoders, cheque readers, printers and even personalised card creators between bank officers – thus reducing the total number of units required and hence the total ownership cost. It has the ability to integrate the functions of such devices independent of their individual architecture or operating platform requirements enabling communication between otherwise incompatible devices.
This ability reduces the complexity of host system set-up and also increases the flexibility of the overall system by simplifying the process involved in renewing or upgrading individual peripheral devices.

The system is provided with a full modular Software Development Kit (SDK) to enable individual bank system developers to construct required utilities (such as PIN select applications).
The SDK consists of example programs, drivers for various PINPads, an interface for the DC420™, and a fully functional host simulator. Modules consist of cross-platform DLLs pre-interfaced to the DC420™ software allowing the developer to easily interface to the bank’s resident infrastructure.
